Day 1
Leave Kathmandu early and travel toward the Manaslu region by road. The journey passes through hills, rivers, farming areas and small towns before entering a more remote valley. Road conditions can be rough in some places. Reach Machha Khola or a nearby settlement and spend the night before beginning the main trekking journey.
Day 2
Begin walking beside the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail passes small settlements, rocky sections, river crossings and suspension bridges. There are several uphill and downhill sections, so the first trekking day gives you a good introduction to the route. Reach Jagat, an important village on the Manaslu Circuit.
Day 3
Continue deeper into the valley through villages, farmland and forest. Cross the Budhi Gandaki several times and watch the landscape slowly become more mountainous. Long suspension bridges and narrow valley sections make this a beautiful walking day. Stay overnight in Deng.
Day 4
The trail begins gaining more altitude as you walk through forest and traditional villages. Buddhist cultural influence becomes more visible through mani walls, prayer flags and local architecture. Reach Namrung, where the feeling of being in the high Himalayas becomes much stronger.
Day 5
Walk through beautiful mountain villages with improving views of the surrounding peaks. Pass stone houses, fields and Buddhist monuments before reaching Lho. On a clear day, the views toward Manaslu from this area can be outstanding. Take time in the evening to walk slowly around the village instead of immediately staying inside your lodge.
Day 6
Continue through the upper valley toward Samagaun. This is one of the most important and beautiful villages on the Manaslu Circuit. The trail offers increasingly close views of Manaslu and neighboring peaks. Samagaun sits beneath huge mountains and is commonly used as a major acclimatization stop.
Day 7
Spend an extra night in Samagaun to help your body adjust to the altitude. Depending on your condition, weather and your guide's advice, you can take a shorter walk toward Birendra Lake or a longer hike in the direction of Manaslu Base Camp. The purpose is not to prove how strong you are. The goal is to gain some altitude during the day and return lower to sleep.
Day 8
Leave Samagaun and walk through a wide high-altitude valley toward Samdo. The vegetation becomes much thinner and the landscape feels more open. Yaks, stone walls and mountain settlements replace the greener scenery from earlier in the trek. Samdo is close to the northern border region and has strong Tibetan cultural influence.
Day 9
Spend another day adapting to altitude before moving toward Larkya La. A short acclimatization hike above the village can be useful if conditions are good. This extra day also provides valuable rest before the hardest section of the trek.
Day 10
Walk from Samdo toward Dharamsala, also known as Larkya Phedi in some itineraries. This is a shorter day, but you are now sleeping at a high elevation. The accommodation here is more basic than in larger villages. Eat well, drink enough water and prepare your equipment for a very early start the next morning.
Day 11
This is the biggest day of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Start before sunrise and climb gradually toward Larkya La Pass at around 5,106 meters. The trail can have snow, ice, wind and very cold temperatures depending on the season. Reaching the pass is a powerful moment, but the day is not finished there. A long descent follows toward Bhimthang. This can be one of the longest and most tiring days of the trek, so a steady pace is essential.
Day 12
Wake surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery before continuing the descent. After the dry high-altitude landscape of the pass, forests slowly begin returning. The trail becomes greener as you lose elevation and follow the valley toward Gho or another nearby settlement.
Day 13
Continue descending through forests and villages until the Manaslu route connects with the wider Annapurna trekking area around Dharapani. After many days in remote terrain, the increased road access and larger settlements can feel very different.
Day 14
Travel by road from the trekking region toward Kathmandu. Depending on road conditions and the final stopping point of your trek, this may be a long travel day. Keeping some flexibility in your schedule is helpful.

March to May is one of the main trekking seasons for the Manaslu Circuit. Lower valleys become warmer and rhododendrons may bloom in forest sections. Higher mountains can still carry plenty of snow, creating beautiful scenery. Conditions around Larkya La should always be checked locally because late winter snow can sometimes remain on the pass.
September to November is another very popular season. After the summer monsoon, the landscape is green and clearer weather often provides excellent mountain views. December to February brings colder temperatures and greater chances of heavy snow at higher elevations. June to August is the main rainy season. Lower trails can become wet, muddy and affected by landslides. Rivers become stronger and road travel can be difficult. Clouds may block mountain views for long periods. The Manaslu Circuit is generally more complicated during this period, especially because access roads and lower valley trails can be affected by heavy rain.
